Humanitarian protection is defined by the efforts of humanitarian actors in times of armed conflict and other situations of violence to safeguard the lives, safety, and dignity of civilians. To do so, humanitarians and other actors engage in protection activities that aim to ensure that authorities and other actors respect their obligations and the rights of individuals in accordance with the letter and spirit of the relevant bodies of law.
